Asante Kotoko have expressed their gratitude to President Akufo-Addo for the massive support to the club in the ongoing CAF Champions League campaign.
This was contained in a statement signed by the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Premier League giant Nana Yaw Amponsah.[ads2]
According to a statement from the club, the government of Ghana under the leadership of President Akufo-Addo has given Asante Kotoko $50,000 and Gh¢300,000 as financial assistance to the club in the CAF Champions League campaign despite the Coronavirus challenges
These financial assistance has cushioned the club, reliving the club in the ongoing Africa campaign thus thanking the President for the kind gesture.[ads3]
Asante Kotoko currently remains the only Ghanaian club standing in the CAF inter-club competitions after the exit of AshantiGold Sporting Club from the CAF Confederation Cup.
But Asante Kotoko could drop to the CAF Confederation Cup following their 0:1 defeat to Sudanese giant Al Hilal at the Accra Sports Stadium in the first leg of the second preliminary round.[ads4]
Despite the defeat to Al Hilal, Nana Yaw Amponsah in the statement, has assured President Akufo-Addo and Ghanaians of working harder to raise the flag of Ghana higher in the Champions League campaign.
