Items donated include cartons of soft drinks, toiletries, soap, detergent among others.[ads2]
Sharing the word of God with the over 200 inmates, Elder Joseph Awusi, an Executive Member of the Sekondi Area Evangelism Ministry, urged the inmates to keep hold of their faith despite their current condition accommodating various kinds of challenges.
Urging the inmates, Elder Awusi quoted Revelation 3:10-11 which reads , “Because you have kept my word of patient endurance, I will keep you from the hour of trial which is coming on the whole world to try those who dwell upon the earth. I am coming soon; hold fast what you have, so that no one may seize your crown.”[ads3]
He encouraged the inmates not to let their spirit be downhearted because of their present condition but hope for a brighter day ahead.
Receiving the donation on behalf of the inmates, the Deputy Superintendent of Police, DSP Eugene Yeboah thanked the church for the kind gesture.
But since Oliver Twist always ask for more, DSP Eugene Yeboah listed out some challenges that the prison is facing and called on the church as well as other cooperate and social entities to come to their urgent need.
He stated that due to congestion at the various cells at the prison, there is an unease heat at the cells especially at night and want cooperate bodies to support them to avoid the inmates catching up with diseases associated with heat.[ads4]
DSP Yeboah added that the inmates lack other basic items like tooth brush, toothpaste, shaving sticks among others, a thing he described as very worrying and making life uncomfortable for the inmates at the Ekuasi Camp Prison.
One of the inmates thanked the Church of Pentecost for the continuous support and prayed for blessing upon the church for fulfilling what is inscribed at Matthew 25:42-46 which reads , “For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not. Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee? Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me. And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.”
Present at the event was Elder Richard Quansah; Essikado District Evangelism Ministry Leader, Deacon Joshua Bawona; District Evangelism Ministry secretary, Elder Stephen Dadzie; District Youth Ministry Leader, Elder Edmund Acheampong, Elder Joseph Cudjoe, Deacon Kenneth Abban Jnr, Deaconess Joseline Amfoh and others.
