Tests in Communication Skills and Answers is a textbook to solve learning difficulties students face in the Communication Skills subject in the various tertiary institutions across the country.
The book, written by three authors with great experiences and in-depth knowledge in the subject, will be officially released to the market this weekend.
The book aims to equip students with competence to help them fit and thrive in the academic discourse community. It will be without doubt, a useful resource material and guide for students offering Communication Skills at the various tertiary institutions.[ads2]
In spite of the crucial role that this course plays in the academic lives of students, evidence suggests that many students face difficulties in scaling through this important course, and this is reflected in the low grades that they record in this subject area.
It is, therefore, necessary that interventions aimed at ameliorating the situation are introduced. There have been genuine attempts in this regard thus far. The first comes in the form of books written to explain issues in Communication Skills to enable students grasp the nuances of the course. The second comes in the form of books that explain issues in Communication Skills
and also provide questions for students to attempt.
What makes the current book unique is that it deals fundamentally with questions pertaining to some key topics in Communication Skills and goes on to provide answers to all of these questions.
All the questions found in the book have been originally set and have been modelled around how most tertiary institutions in Ghana test Communication Skills. Some of the passage found in this book are the original creations of the authors; those ones adapted for the purposes of questions setting have been duly acknowledged.[ads3]
To give users the opportunity to practice extensively, over 1,600 questions and answers have been presented in this book. Some of the regularly tested topics in the book are Concord, Ambiguities, Dangling and Misplaced Modifiers, Notes, Clausal elements and Spelling have been presented.
Pertaining to users, apart from students who are the primary target, journalists, teachers/lecturers and other professionals who use English language will find this book very interesting…
