The Ministry of Youth and Sports today commemorated the 2001 May 9th Stadium Disaster at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Honorable Isaac Kwame Asiamah on behalf of the ministry joined host of dignitaries to pay respect to the victims of the biggest Stadium disaster in the history of Ghana Football which occurred on 9th May 2001 in a league match between Accra Hearts of Oak and Kumasi Asante Kotoko at the Accra Sports Stadium where 127 lives were lost with some injured.
As today marks exactly seventeen years that the tragedy befall on Ghana Football, the minister entreated Ghanaians to do away with hooliganism at various stadia.
