News gathered by www.kyfilla.com suggest that renovation works at the Accra Sports Stadium is almost finished as efforts have been stepped up.
The Accra Sports Stadium is currently under a massive facelift ahead of the Total Africa Women Cup of Nations to be hosted in Ghana in November 2018 with the government spending a sum of GHC12.5m on renovations.
However, according to the Project Manager for the ongoing renovation works at the stadium Mr Chris Aviah, the edifice is 60-70 percent complete as all efforts have been speed up to meet the deadline.
“The percentage of work done is about 60-70 percent and we are hopeful that within three to four months, all works would be completed and handed over to the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
“We currently replacing the rusty metals and we have removed the roof. We also working on the orange stand as well as the scoreboard and that has taken a bit of time, because we had to remove all metals and replace them with some concrete works,’’ Mr. Aviah stated.
The Accra Sports Stadium has been tipped as one of the venues to host the tournament but Mr Aviah believes the renovation works would be completed before the tournament kick start in Ghana.
‘’The dusting would help expose the good part of the metal which help do the zinc impregnated coating, thus prevent rust. This time round we going to put a ceiling under the roof to enable it withstand the sea breeze.
“But I remain hopeful that we would finish by the end of October, to make way for the tournament,’’ he ended.
