Black Stars of Ghana second assistant coach, Maxwell Konadu has refused to rule out a return to Asante Kotoko as head coach, but only hopes to return “at the right time”.
Maxwell is currently the head coach of the Black Stars B team whom he guided to win the 2017 FOX WAFU tournament in Cape Coast after beating Nigeria by emphatic 4-1 scoreline, and also serves as second assistant coach to Black Stars head coach James Kwasi Appiah, along with Ibrahim Tanko.
Having once guided the Porcupine Warriors to a league title, the Asante Kotoko fraternity have so much trust in him and the fans want to see him back to the club.
However, Maxwell Konadu believes that the time will not be okay for his return now, but will be open to return when the right time presents itself.
“Oh at the right time I will come (to coach Kotoko again), We can’t say we wouldn’t return to Kumasi, why not, that’s where we started, just that the timing is not favorable for now”, Maxwell Konadu told FOX FM.
Many people believe that Maxwell is being coy to return due to high level of pressure from the numerous fans of Asante Kotoko, but the former Wa All Stars coach stated his resilience to pressure as he faces same or more at the Black Stars too.
“There is much pressure at Kotoko, there is pressure at the Black Stars too but then if we talk of coaches who have undergone pressure, I don’t think I haven’t faced some before, I have faced a lot but normally if you are confident and you know you are doing the right thing you are bound to succeed ,pressure is part of the game and without pressure football will become like different game ,maybe like long tennis”, he stated.
Asante Kotoko currently has former Inter Allies and Black Satellites coach Samuel Paa Kwasi Fabin as their head coach, and are lying 8th on the Ghana Premier League log with 17 points after 12 matches .
