The GNPC Foundation has handed over a new 6-unit classroom block to Asawinso Senior High School in the Sefwi Wiawso District of the Western North Region.
The facility forms part of the Foundation’s School Infrastructure project aimed at improving teaching and learning at various deprived government basic and Senior High schools across the country.
The classroom block is furnished with 240 mono-desks, white boards, office chairs and tables to enhance the academic experience by both students and staff.
Speaking at the short event, Executive Director of the GNPC Foundation, Dr. Dominic Eduah, reiterated the Foundation’s commitment to contributing to improvements in the educational infrastructural base of deprived schools and communities in Ghana and challenged other corporate bodies and development agencies to plug in their efforts to same.
Mr. Nathaniel Amo Amankwa, Headmaster of Asawinso SHS, thanked GNPC for the support; assuring that they will institute measures to ensure its well managed. coming to the school’s aid at a time when it needed support to adequately cater for the surge in student enrollment due to government’s Free Senior High School policy.
Chairman for the occasion, Nana Kwesi Ofori Ababio, chief of Safwi Bodi who represented the Paramount Chief of Safwi Wiawso Traditional Council, thanked the GNPC Foundation for the good work done across the country and in several sectors. He called for more of such partnerships to expedite Ghana’s growth agenda as government could not carry the responsibility.
On his part, the MCE of Sefwi Wiawso, Hon. Louis Owusu Agyapong, said the Western North region holds great potential and would continue to count on development partners such as the GNPC Foundation to realize them. He appealed for the construction of an Astro turf for the Sefwi Wiawso community, Dining and Assembly halls for Safwi Asawinso SHS, and a Classroom block for Safwi Bodi SHS as the assembly rally support for the district’s development and the overall growth of the Western North Region.
