The Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis has been a hub of producing competitive sports shows within the media space with Radio Silver, Skyy Power FM, Kyzz FM, Goodnews FM, Twincity Radio, Spice FM and others given top competition once upon a time.
The competition gave birth to renowned sportscasters like George Kuntu Blankson, Aminu Zylla (late), Kweku Sagoe, Ekow Asirifi, Manucho ManGandi, Ebo Blankson (The Lion), Stephen Kwame Yeboah, Oti Asrifi Mensah Joseph, Kyei Baffour, Captain Kobby Stone (Now with Asempa FM), Abeidu Abednego, Benjamin Quansah, Emmanuel Kwesi Koomson and host of others – during that era, sports broadcasting on radio was very competitive with listeners always in a dilemma.

But it seems the paradigm is shifting, as the drive time shows have taken the center stage as far as radio broadcasting is concerned – getting all the sponsorship advertisements compared to the other radio programmes including sports broadcasting which was leading the pack sometime back.
Henceforth, listeners in the metropolis will be more confused as to which drive time show to listen to as the competition becomes tougher and tougher this time around.
Unlike Accra, Kumasi, Cape Coast, Sunyani where few presenters are leading the drive time battle on radio, when it comes to Sekondi/Takoradi, there is congestion as to who leads the battlefront.[ads3]
After losing their loyal employee Nana Adjoa Arthur to Media General’s Connect FM, Skyy Power FM have gotten Godfrey Ainoo, popularly referred to as ‘The Champ’ to takeover the mantle as the new host of the station’s drive time shoe dubbed ‘Drive Jam’.
Ainoo is coming with a cast experience as a drive time show host alongside his high level of creativity toppled with his top-notch interview style whenever he is behind the microphone.
From ATL FM, to Radio Max then later to Accra-based Starr FM, Godfrey Ainoo is commencing work at Skyy Power FM today, August 2, 2021 as the new drive time host after the departure of Nana Adjoa Arthur.

The Champ will be live on Skyy Power FM from 3:00PM-5:30PM today with the Drive Jam.
Affectionately called “The Queen of the Airwaves”, Nana Adjoa Arthur is another name aiming to hold the forth in this competitive era as far as drive time shows are concerned.
She is the new face on the Connect FM drive show titled “Yeko Fie” after nine years of active service at Skyy Power FM.
Known for her unique style of presentation, Nana Adjoa Arthur boast of a soul touching voice that easily attract listeners to stay glue till the end of her shows.
And after a grand launch on Media General’s TV3, Nana Adjoa Arthur becomes the only female rubbing shoulders with the males in the metropolis when it comes to drive time shows and she is also starting today, August 2, 2021 from 3pm-6pm on the 97.1 dial.
Sankofa Radio will also be making waves as far as drive time shows are concerned with astute broadcaster Abeiku Biney as the new host.
The former Fox FM, Goodnews FM, Spice FM broadcaster will be the new host of the station’s drive time show and is expected to start work this week as well.
Aside the aforementioned names, there are other gangs who have not moved to a new station but have the numbers as far as drive time shows are concerned.
Frank Kwodwo Nyarko known in the media circles as OTJ will be adding salt to the competition on Atinka Media Village’s Ahoto FM . The former Radio Silver broadcaster is also another top guy making waves with drive time in the metropolis.
There is also Yoofi Eyeson of Spice FM drive time show dubbed “Keteke”, one of the best drive time shows not only in the metropolis but Western Region at
large.
Joseph Kumi of Empire FM is also another bighead in the field with his vast experience in the industry as well as YFM’s PM and Papa Jay of Goodnews FM.
