The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has postponed its earlier advertised town-hall meeting on the 2022 budget which was scheduled for November 30, 2021at Great Hall, KNUST until further notice.
This follows the total rejection of the 2022 Budget Statement dubbed ‘Agyenkwa’ by Parliament on November 26, 2021.[ads2]
The 2022 budget statement presented by the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori Atta on November 17, 2021 has been rejected by Parliament.
This was after the majority members walked out during proceedings on Friday, November 26, 2021.[ads3]
Despite the majority walking out, the Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin went ahead to rule on the motion.
According to reporters, the speaker gave the majority members a five-minute break to return to the chambers to begin debating on the budget.
The majority failed to resume their seats after the five minutes break which saw the speaker ruled that the budget has been rejected after the members present overwhelmingly shouted ‘No’.[ads5]
