Ghana has finally opened its land and sea borders two years after closing them as part of measures to control the novel coronavirus.
This was announced by President Akufo-Addo in a nationwide broadcast on Sunday, March 27, 2022.
“As from tomorrow, Monday, 28th March, all land and sea borders will be opened. Fully vaccinated travellers will be allowed entry through the land and sea borders without a negative PCR test result from the country of origin. Citizens and foreign residents in Ghana, who are not fully vaccinated, will have to produce a negative 48-hour PCR test result, and will be offered vaccination on arrival.”
He indicated that the government is easing the restrictions due to the fact that the country’s active cases keep reducing.
The President also cited the number of vaccinated persons and the advice of the national COVID-19 Taskforce and the health experts leading to the to revision of the COVID-19 restrictions, enacted under E.I. 64.
