GNPC Foundation, the Corporate Social arm of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation, (GNPC )will on Friday, July 13, 2018 cut sod to construct an Ultra Modern Artificial Turf at the Effia-Kuma Police Park,Takoradi.
The traditional football ground, which has seen the rise of many football stars in the western Region will be turned from the Sandy ground to an ultra Modern artificial Astro Turf courtesy GNPC Foundation.
Dr. K.K.Sarpong, (Chief Excutive Officer of GNPC), Dr.Kwame Baah- Nuako (Executive Director of GNPC Foundation), Moses Antwi- Benefo( Head of Media and PR at GNPC Foundation) and Honorable Joseph Cudjoe, who’s the Member of Parliament for Effia Constituency as well as the Deputy Energy Minister will be present at the ceremony on Friday July 13.
Effia-Kuma Police Park has been the event location for Primary and Junior High Schools’ Inter Schools Football Competition for at least the past two decades.
Some notable names who had stints in the Ghana Premier League had tasted football on the Sandy ground before which is about to get a facelift.
Former Ashantigold SC attacker, Bernard Morrison, 2008-2009 Ghana Premier League most valuable player, Joseph Ato Bissah who played for Sekondi Hasaacas and Berekum Chelsea, former Asante Kotoko defender Samuel Abeiku Ainooson, Paul Aidoo who started his career at Sekondi Hasaacas and now at Aduana Stars are some notable names which easily come to mind.

GNPC Foundation will do same at the Tarkwa and Aboso Park on July 27, 2018 barring no last minute hitch.
