In furtherance of its primary goal to impact the lives of Ghanaians through social and economic empowerment programmes, the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC), through its Foundation, is seeking areas of collaboration in Science and Technology education, and technical training with the Saginaw Valley State University, Michigan, USA.
In a meeting hosted by the Board and the leadership of the University with 3 Ghanaian state agencies – GNPC, Ghana Digital Centers Limited (GDCL), and the National Service Secretariat (NSS), representatives of the State agencies took turns to present highlights of their operations in a bid to explore areas of collaboration, support, and investment.
The Executive Director of the GNPC Foundation, Dr. Dominic Eduah shared key programmes and projects by the Foundation, successes, and challenges with the stakeholders.
He said the GNPC Foundation is strategically positioned to augment the efforts of government and other key state institutions in providing critical educational support through scholarships, infrastructure development and technical/vocational training to thousands of Ghana’s youths every year.
He expressed the Foundation’s readiness to leverage on its experience and core competences to facilitate partnerships of mutual interest with the University in enhancing the delivery of its mandate.
On his part, Professor Donald Bachand, President of the University, lauded GNPC’s pivotal role in Ghana’s development. He added that the University is interested in building alliances with purpose-driven organizations seeking the development of human capacity. This, he said, is more critical now more than ever as the University seeks to attract and offer educational opportunities and internship possibilities to students from Africa.
Leader of the Ghanaian delegation and the Chief Executive officer for GDCL, Kwadwo Baah Agyemang, reiterated the commitment of all parties to drawing out further discussions on specific areas of future partnerships.
The NSS was represented at the meeting by the Deputy Director, Mrs. Gifty Oware Mensa.
