President Akufo-Addo has reinstated the mayor of Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis in the Western Region, Abdul Mumin Issah after six months of suspension as a result of an altercation with a police officer.[ads2]
Mr Mumin Issah was suspended from office as the mayor of the metropolis by President Akufo-Addo in February, 2022 following an interrogation into an altercation with a police officer at a checkpoint in Kwesimintsim, a suburb in Takoradi in the Western Region.
He was arrested on February 3 and charged on three counts of assault of a public officer, offensive conduct conducive to breaches of the peace, and disturbing the peace in a public place contrary to sections 205, 207, and 298, respectively, of the Criminal and Other Offences Act of 1960, Act 29.[ads3]
At the Takoradi Circuit Court A in same month, the astute politician pleaded not guilty to all the three charges levelled against him and was granted GHC 100, 000 self-recognizance bail with three sureties.

The duties of Mr Mumin Issah as the STMA Mayor was handed to the Western Regional minister Dr Kwabena Otchere-Darko Mensah on acting basis but after six months, President Akufo-Addo has directed that Abdul Mumin Issah should resume office as the Chief Executive of the Metropolis.[ads4]
