The General Secretary of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), Nana Yaa Gyantuah has asked President Akufo-Addo to resign as soon as possible for deceiving Ghanaians on the fight against illegal mining otherwise known as galamsey in the country.[ads2]
To her, the President has failed to deliver on his promise after putting his presidency on the line as a way of assuring Ghanaians his government’s effort to curb illegal mining.
Nana Yaa Gyantuah believes the Akufo-Addo led government has performed abysmally as far as the fight against illegal mining is concerned and therefore must apologise to Ghanaians and step down as President of the republic.[ads3]
“President Akufo-Addo put the presidency on the line emphasising his government’s commitment to end illegal mining which he has failed so he has to resign.
“What stops Nana Addo to openly apologise to Ghanaians and boldly step down?” she quizzed while addressing the media in Accra on Wednesday, September 21 to mark Dr. Kwame Nkrumah’s birthday anniversary.
She noted that CPP as a party is more concerned at how mining activities have destroyed water bodies, farmlands and forest reserves.
And even though the government has assembled policies to salvage the situation, Nana Yaa Gyantuah indicated the menace keeps deteriorating the environment.[ads4]
