President Akufo-Addo has charged the Board Chairs of the various State owned Enterprises to up their game as their counterparts in the private sector are flourishing.[ads2]
To the President, the current trend of affairs did not reflect well on the various enterprises.
“It is a clear indication of poor supervision and management, as well as poor enforcement of implementation and sanctions of the needed measures.
“I appointed you as leaders of these Specified Entities with the strong belief that you would ensure a positive change in the narrative of loss-making entities and build value for the people of Ghana. That has not happened, so I expect more from you”, President Akufo-Addo said while speaking at a meeting with Board Chairs of State Owned Enterprises.[ads3]
He expressed worry as to why some specific entities performed badly whilst their counterparts in the private sector were thriving in the same sectors and making gains.
“I charge you to change the narrative. I look forward to a better picture when we meet next year by this time,” he added.[ads4]
He further tasked the State Interest and Governance Authority (SIGA) to investigate the fractions by some state agencies cited in the 2021 Auditors General’s report.
The President directed SIGA to team up with the Auditor General to draw down the causes of the infractions, identify persons responsible, and make the necessary recommendations as prescribed by law.
He ended by encouraging the entities to trade amongst themselves to increase production and patronage of domestic products and services.[ads5]
