The Presbyterian Boys Senior High School (PRESEC Legon) gave the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC), Mr. O-A Danquah a perfect birthday gift by winning the 2022 Science and Maths Quiz Championship for the seventh time at the KNUST Great Hall, Kumasi on Wednesday 26th October 2022.[ads4]
PRESEC successfully fought off Prempeh College’s threats of equaling two of their records by giving them (Prempeh College) a last round knock-out punch.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, Mr. Danquah, an alumnus of NSMQ stated that “Indeed the NSMQ is a good project, and that is why the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) has decided to join in promoting the study of Science and Maths which is the bedrock of our very existence as a society”. He added that “Science is the greatest collective endeavor.”
GNPC, as the National Oil Company (NOC), recognizes the urgent need to maximize local content and local participation for the people of Ghana, through developing expertise in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) within the value chain, for job creation.[ads3]
Addressing the excited audience, Mr. Danquah added that ‘Even though I’m an Odade and today is also my birthday, it would be a good present to see PRESEC win, but my Minister of Energy, (Dr. Opoku Prempeh) attended Prempeh College, and my Board Chairman (Mr. Freddie Blay) is from ADISCO, so I have to remain neutral here’.
His wishes however came through when he helped PRESEC lift the trophy to a thunderous chorus of “We are still ‘seven’ a living God,”
Congratulations PRESEC!!!
