The Head of Corporate Communications at Ghana National Gas, Ernest Owusu- Bempah has made a clarification to a purported Gh¢8million payment his outfit has made to the Ellembele district assembly.
There were reports that Ghana Gas have released Gh¢8million to the District Chief Executive of the assembly, Kwazi Bonzoh of which the politician has vehemently denied that after media backlash.
Addressing the media at a briefing on Tuesday November 8, Mr Owusu Bempah clarified that his outfit have only paid Gh¢4.450million to the Ellembele district assembly as property rate and not Gh¢8million to the DCE as reported in the media.[ads4]
According to him, the amount has been paid to the Ellembele district assembly as property rate since Ghana Gas operate in the enclaves of the assembly.
He emphasised that Ghana Gas has a cordial relationship with the Ellembele district assembly and his outfit have been embarking on numerous of projects in the assembly as part of its corporate social responsibility to the community.
Also speaking at the press conference, the Ellembele district chief executive, Kwasi Bonzoh reiterated that his outfit have enjoyed a peaceful relationship with Ghana Gas for the past years, and excited that the record has been set straight.
“I only wanted to set the record straight and as I speak Ghana Gas has paid Gh¢4.450m to the account of the district assembly and not Gh¢8m that was reported to have been paid to me”, he said.[ads2]
“I acknowledge the support that Ghana Gas has given to the district assembly over the past years and I will urge them to continue in order to achieve our goal of developing the district which is also a vision of President Akufo-Addo”, Mr Bonzoh added.
