The Member of Parliament for Tamale South, Haruna Iddrisu has said the minority alone cannot vote out Ken Ofori-Atta from office as the country’s finance Minister.[ads2]
According to him, the Minority do not have the required numbers, two thirds, to push the motion of vote of censure against the Finance Minister, hence will need the support of the Majority.
Speaking at a political dialogue series organised by Media General, Haruna Iddrisu who is the Minority Leader said he is determined to move the motion of censure to get Ken Ofori-Atta out of office.[ads3]
“I’m determined to move the motion of censure”, he said.
“Admittedly, the Minority MPs, standing alone, may not achieve the two thirds number and so when the Majority said they will support us, it was comforting. If they chicken out, it will weaken Parliament, it will weaken oversight role of Parliament and the minister will run riot.”
He added “Anywhere in the world, Mr Ofori-Atta should have been gone by now, taking full responsibility for what has happened.”
