Some parts of Accra experienced a moderate Earth tremor on Monday, December 12, 2022.[ads2]
Places that recorded the tremor were Adabraka, Gbawe, McCarthy Hill and Mallam.
According to the Principal Seismologist at the Ghana Geological Survey Authority (GGSA), Nicholas Opoku, residents in the nation’s capital should expect some of these tremors since the region is now situated in earthquake zone.[ads3]
“This is not a new thing we have been experiencing this from time to time…even the most recent ones were in 2018, 2019 and 2020. What we have been saying all this while is that Accra is situated in the earthquake-prone zones so from time to we will be experiencing these minor earthquakes until such a time that a major will happen,” Mr Opoku said on Citi Prime News on Monday.[ads4]
