Johnson Asiedu Nketia has unseated Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo as the national chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) at the party’s 10th delegates conference on Saturday.[ads2]
The keenly contested race saw Asiedu Nketia smashing Ofosu-Ampofo’s dream of seeking a second term in office with 5,569 votes.
Also, former Ketu South legislator, Fifi Fiavi Kwetey has taken over as the General Secretary of the leading opposition party, replacing Johnson Asiedu Nketia who served in that position for seventeen years.
Mr Kwetey defeated former General Secretary, Dr Peter Boamah Otukunor and Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, a former Sports Minister.
The former Propaganda Secretary accumulated 4,543 votes against Dr Otukunor who got 2,595 and Mr Afriyie Ankrah’s 1,408.
Sammy Gyamfi went unopposed as the communication officer of the party while former deputy minister of Youth and Sports, Joseph Yamin unseated Joshua Akamba for the national organiser position.[ads3]
