The Western Regional Commander of the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC), SNCO Grace Annor-Baah Tawiah, has lauded the GNPC Foundation for its support in the fight against illicit drug use and abuse in the Western Region.
The NACOC boss, in meeting with the Executive Director of the Foundation, Dr. Dominic Eduah, to submit a report on the just ended public sensitization and training programme in Amanful in the Western Region, expressed her profound gratitude to GNPC for responding to the call to partner them in the successful execution of the project.
She said the public outreach programme is already yielding one of NACOC’s topmost goals of building confidence in communities and individuals needing assistance in curbing their addictions as well as those seeking more information on the menace. “Thanks to you and our collaborative work, our offices have been receiving a lot of visitors since our outreach with more people seeming more confident to approach us with their enquiries and need for help,” she added.[ads4]
She, however, admitted that her office is fraught with several challenges and is currently seeking greater collaboration and support to enhance the effectiveness of their work and “like Oliver Twist, we would be grateful if the GNPC Foundation could sustain its support and help us in that regard,” she concluded.
Dr. Eduah stated that the opportunity to join in the drug fight was not one the Foundation could have rejected seeing how the abuse of drugs robs the nation of its human resource stock.
“It is clear from available data that this menace affects the youth the most and as a Foundation that is deeply rooted in offering educational and vocational training alternatives to many youths, it’s imperative that we contributed to the campaign,” he stated.
Accompanying the NACOC boss at the meeting were NCO Godlove Vanden-Bossche, the Regional Head of Drug Demand Reduction, ANCO Linda Yirenkyi and ANCO Stella Adzo Fedieley.
