The Ashanti Regional Director of the National Service Secretariat (NSS), Alex Opoku-Mensah has been transferred to the Head Office in Accra to work under direct supervision.[ads2]
Mr Opoku-Mensah was suspended for verbally abusing a nurse at the Manhyia Government Hospital.
Immediately after his suspension, a committee comprised representatives from the NSS itself, the Public Services Commission, and the Ministry of Education was tasked to investigate the matter and submit a report to report to the NSS management within a month.[ads3]
Even though he apologized for his actions, Mr Opoku-Mensah has been suspended for two months with salary and will have to report to the NSS Head Office in Accra to work under supervision after serving his suspension.
This was after the committee’s report was presented to the NSS, Executive Director Osei Assibey Antwi who wrote to Mr Opoku-Mensah in a letter to communicate the Board’s decisions.
According to the letter, the Board has sanctioned Mr Opoku-Mensah’s suspension for two months without pay.[ads4]
“After the suspension, you are to report to the Head Office to work under supervision,” the letter written last month further directed.
“Within seven (7) days upon receipt of this notice, you are also to issue an official apology to the National Service Scheme for bringing the name of the Scheme into disrepute.
“The directive takes immediate effect,” Mr Assibey Antwi stressed.[ads5]
