President Akufo-Addo has accepted Alan Kyerematen’s resignation as the Minister of Trade and Industry.[ads2]
According to a statement dated January 6 and signed by the Director of Communications at the Office of the President, Eugene Arhin, Alan Kyerematen on Thursday, January 5 informed the President on his decision to resign and subsequently submitted a resignation letter.
The President then thanked Alan Kyerematen otherwise known as Alan Cash for his services to Ghana and wished him well in his future endeavours.[ads3]
It has since been unknown as to why Alan Kyerematen resigned from his position but he has long been rumoured to be nursing the ambition to contest the flagbearership slot of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).[ads4]
But it’s unknown whether the resignation is connected to his ambition of becoming the flagbearer of the NPP for the 2024 general elections.
Meanwhile, the statement says President Akufo-Addo has asked the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta to serve as acting Minister of Trade and Industry until a substantive appointment is made.[ads5]
