Below is Emelia Arthur’s full statement;

Fellow Party members have spoken with me of the urgent need to rebuild and reunite the Party around respectful debate and wholesome service to the people of the Shama constituency.[ads4]
Chiefs and Citizens have reminded me of the comprehensive Shama vision that we developed together and our unfinished business. People have called for a resumption of cohesive community-planning that allowed us all, together, to frame our District Assembly and traditional area programmes. Women and Youth have asked for a resumption of the leadership that helped them to self-empower in service to the Shama Constituency and their families.
They have also demanded that it is time we have a strong voice in our national Parliament; one that strategically represents the interests of the people of this unique and great constituency and offers leadership in all debates about what Ghana should be.
Esemaman wants protection from the kind of arrogant neglect we have seen over the last 6 years and the terrible difficulties that the NPP’s destruction of our national economy is set to bring to us over the next decade.

I promise to strictly observe the Guidelines published by NEC. I promise to deliver a clean primaries campaign that strengthens rather than weakens the NDC in Shama; one of vision and development ideas without personal and character attacks, without intemperate language, and without falsehoods that poison this and the subsequent campaign.
