All the personalities who have declared intentions to contest the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearership position are competent and capable of leading the party in the 2024 elections says former Deputy General-Secretary of the party, Nana Obiri Boahen.[ads2]
According to him, even though the aspirants are capable of leading the NPP, he is of strong conviction that the Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia will win the race.
“So far, all the aspirants who have declared their intention to contest for the party’s flagbearership are competent and capable of leading the party but I am of the strong conviction that Dr Bawumia will win the contest and go ahead to win the national elections”, he said as quoted by graphiconline.
“I know the volume of work I am doing for Dr Bawumia and everywhere I go, I receive a lot of encouragement from the people concerning Dr Bawumia,” he stated.[ads3]
The NPP former Deputy General Secretary added: “I am going to set this nation ablaze. What I mean is that I am going to set this country politically ablaze by ensuring that Vice President Bawumia wins the NPP presidential primary and win the national elections.
So far, former Trade and Industry Minister, Alan Kyerematen has declared his intention of contesting for the NPP flagbearership position after resigning from his position in the current government months ago.
Assin Central lawmaker, Kennedy Agyapong has also expressed interest in contesting the NPP flagbearership position.[ads4]
Former Minister of Food and Agriculture under the President Akufo-Addo administration, Owusu Akoto Afriyie also resigned with reports suggesting that he is off to focus on his campaign to become the flagbearer of the NPP.
As at now, the sitting Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia is yet to officially declare his intention to contest for the position despite several rumours purporting that he has a keen interest in becoming the President of the country in 2024.[ads5]
