Ghanaian budding musician Kwame Eugene has been highly lambasted in the country after releasing his hit track Confusion.
Pundits in the music industry has revealed that the Fadama hailed artist sampled the rhythm of a 2015 French tune from Malian singer Sidiki Diabate and translated the lyrics as well.
Kwame Eugene is in the news again for for ‘stealing’ the lyrics of Nigerian rapper Ice Prince in his latest ‘Wish Me Well’ song.
Speaking to Takoradi based Connect FM, Kofi Kinaata known in real life as Martin King Arthur in a jovial way said “Sometimes it is just by coincidence; you know, like they say, great minds think alike. So it is possible to say things similar to what others may have said in the past without knowing but if the same accident happens twice consecutively, it’s got to be intentional”.
The Confession hit-maker believes it excusable to sample old songs of other artistes because the composers are unknown but added that its insulting to play on the intelligence of music lovers by inconspicuously rummage other people’s music and present it as original and new to music lovers.
“If we do not know the song, it is hiding in an obscure corner, and it has to take some people to hunt for the original composers, then that is a clear insult to our intelligence and an attempt to look sharp,” he aired.
The former High Grade Artiste urged Ghanaian musicians to remain original in their music composition in order to produce everlasting music.
The 2017 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards Highlife Artiste of the Year cum Songwriter of The Year is currently the Goodwill Ambassador on Safe Migration and he’s out with a brand new single titled ‘The Whole Show’
