Member of Parliament for Asawase, Muntaka Mubarak has accepted the changes made to the NDC leadership in Parliament.[ads2]
On January 23, the NDC made changes to its leadership in parliament with the astute legislator losing his position as the minority Chief Whip to fellow party member and MP for Adaklu, Kwame Agbodza.
Even though the changes brought some misunderstanding, the former sports minister has finally declared his support towards the changes made.
In a Facebook post, he disclosed that his decision to accept the changes was as a result of an intervention by former President, John Dramani Mahama.[ads3]
“To all our supporters within and without. I had a lengthy meeting with my big brother, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, on Saturday evening over the parliamentary reshuffle.
“I want to first of all thank him for the words of advice and encouragement to me as a younger brother.
“His Excellency’s intervention has brought an end to all the brouhaha associated with the reshuffle.”
He, thus, urged the rank and file of the party to focus their energies towards election 2024.
“We are for the interest of our party NDC. We need to move on as a party and channel all our energies towards 2024 elections.
“I thank all our chiefs ,Queen Mothers, Imams, supporters for your prayers and solidarity. I pray for Allah’s guidance in all our affairs. Long live NDC, long live Ghana,” he concluded.
It was not only Muntaka Mubarak who lost his position in parliament rather Tamale South MP, Haruna Iddrisu was also removed as the minority leader with Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam legislator, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson taking over the top seat.[ads4]
Emmanuel Kofi-Armah Buah, the MP for Ellembelle in the Western region was also named the deputy minority leader, replacing Ketu North legislator James Avedzi Klutse.
Banda MP, Ahmed Ibrahim and Comfort Doyo Ghansah who is the MP for Ada maintained their positions as first and second deputy minority whip.[ads5]
