Member of Parliament for Asante Akyem North in the Ashanti region, Andy Kwame Appiah-Kubi has said he will never accept a deputy ministerial appointment again in his political career.[ads2]
According to the astute legislator and the former Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Free Zones Authority, he has regretted working at the Ministry of Railway and Development as the deputy minister.
“I will never accept the position of deputy minister again. I made a mistake of accepting such a position and I will not do that again. I didn’t get the opportunity to exhibit my talent” he said on 3FM Sunrise Morning Show on Wednesday, February 8, 2023 as quoted by 3news.
This comes following President Akufo-Addo’s changes to some of the ministry in his government as announced on the floor of Parliament by the Speaker on Tuesday, February 7, 2023.[ads3]
MP for Adansi-Asokwa in the Ashanti region, Kobina Tahir Hammond has been appointed the new minister for trade and industry.
This follows the resignation of Alan Kyerematen, who resigned to concentrate on his campaign to become the flagbearer of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2024 elections.
Also, the member of parliament for Abetifi in the Eastern region, Bryan Acheampong has been named the new minister for food and agriculture.[ads4]
He will be replacing Owusu Akoto Afriyie should parliament approve of his nomination.
Meanwhile, Nhyiaeso MP and board member of Ghana Commercial Bank, Dr Stephen Amoah has been appointed by President Nana Addo as the deputy minister of trade and industry.
Former Mfantsipim West MP, Stephen Asamoah Boateng has been nominated as the chieftaincy and religious affairs minister, replacing Ebenezer Kojo Kum who resigned earlier this month.
Mohammed Anim Adam has been appointed as the minister of state in the finance ministry while Hon Osei Bonsu Amoah will serve as the minister of state at the local government with Herbert Krapah as deputy minister of energy.[ads5]
