A gospel music Enthusiast and influencer in the Western Region, Mawusi William Dotse has admonished Churches in Takoradi to establish their own record labels just as some Churches in Accra have began.
In an interview with Bismark Ato Eduakoh on Spice FM’s Gospel Express show, the Gospel music Analyst stated that church leaders in Takoradi should emulate what churches in Accra have started by having their own record labels.
He added that after they establish the record labels, they should engage the services of experienced people to manage their record labels for them.
He further explained that some Churches in Africa with record labels had issues managing their artistes. He cited an example that the Christ Embassy Church recently had issues with some of it great artistes like Sinach.
He commended Pastor Mensah Otabil for starting a Music Label at the International Central Gospel Church (ICGC) in Accra. However, he questioned the ability of the various Churches to manage its artistes.
_”Establishing Music Labels in Churches has been something we have all been calling for and Pastor Mensah Otabil has started it in Accra which is very very good just that I am still asking myself how is he going to go about it?. Because just as are we having this conversation, there have been issues concerning Christ Embassy’s singer, Sinach._
_It was alleged that she went to perform in a different church which Pastor Chris did not approve of so it seems she doesn’t sing in the church anymore.”_ he mentioned.
Moving on, he admitted that Churches like the Breakthrough Chapel, Harvest Chapel, Zion Praise Chapel among others all in Takoradi have good musicians and therefore could have their their own record labels.
_Churches like Breakthrough have good musicians, the likes of Pastor Larry, Pastor Charles, Maame Serwaa even their Bishop, Bishop Osei Tutu is a musician and they are all solid._
_Again, ZionPraise, Harvest Chapel and a few others have good musicians and I expect that they all establish their Music Labels in Takoradi._ he concluded.
