Seasoned gospel producer, Kwesi Ernest has supported the calls for Piesie Esther to win this year’s Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) artiste of the year.
Piesie Esther has received huge support from the gospel fraternity to win the topmost award ahead of heavyweights like Joe Mettle, Sarkodie, Black Sheriff, KiDi, King Promise and Camidoh.
Her hit single ‘waye me yie’ has reached far and wide, touching souls with its soothing lyrics which enabled her to bag seven nominations in the prestigious awards including the artiste of the year category which is the topmost.

And Kwesi Ernest who is the founder of Media Excel Production believes Piesie Esther has toiled for years in the music industry and therefore deserves to win the artiste of the year.
“A month ago I told you that Piesie Esther winning the artiste of the year is non-negotiable because we are breaking the 3 and that’s how is supposed to be,” he said on TV3.
“If you cast your mind back, it’s been 24 years of VGMA and out of this 24 years of organization, Gospel has only won two of the topmost of the last 24 years. You saw Black Sherif’s post yesterday, he said that this connects his toil, sweat and blood and that same sweat and toil is what we the gospel fraternity want to use in promoting our music. It’s the same energy we are also using to push our agenda,” he added.
