Asante Kotoko coach Abdulai Gazale has said the club’s dream of defending the Ghana Premier League title this season is still alive.
This comes after guiding Kotoko to beat relegated side Kotoku Royals at Dawu on Monday, May 22, 2023.
A brace from Georges Mfegue and a Rocky Dwamena goal ensured the Porcupine Warriors ended their three-game winless run.
Speaking after the game, Abdulai Gazale who is currently in charge of Asante Kotoko as an interim coach believes the club is still in the race to clinch the league title.
“For sure we are in contention for the league title. If we are able to pick the remaining nine points and any of the teams at the top drop points we can still win the league,” Gazale said.
Asante Kotoko currently sit fourth on the Ghana Premier League table with 47 points will need to win all three final games and expect Medeama, Aduana Stars, and Bechem United to drop points before getting their hands on the league title.
Kotoko will host Karela United in matchday 32 of the Ghana Premier League at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi on Sunday, May 28, 2023 before playing Accra Lions and Dreams FC.
