Joshua Sowah’s double and Jonathan Agyemang’s 8th minute strike hand Medeama Sporting Club a first Ghana Premier League title on the final day at the Tarkwa Akoon Park.
The Tarkwa-based side secured 60 points, five points more than second place Aduana Stars to secure the title on the final day.
It’s the fourth major title for the Mauve and Yellows having previously won two FA Cups and the Super Cup.
Jonathan Agyemang had the game’s opener on the 8th minute and inspired some strings of hope at the fully packed Akoon Park which was the only goal of the half.
The second half saw Joshua Sowah banging in two more on the 68th and 77th minutes of the game to completely the mauling of the Tamale Visitors.
Medeama SC with the title becomes the third team from the Western Region after Sekondi Eleven Wise and Sekondi Hasaacas FC. It also brings to an end a 46 year wait for the title.
Joshua Sowah’s 12 goals means he’s the top scorer for Medeama SC that is a goal better than center back Vincent Atinga.
The league’s top scorer for the 2022/2023 season is Abednego Tetteh of Bibiani Gold Stars with 18 goals.
Tamale City and Kotoku Royals are the officially relegated teams with one more excited to join them. Either of King Faisal or Accra Lions may join to make it three.
