Member of Parliament for South Dayi Rockson Dafeamekopor has accused the newly nominated Chairperson of the Electoral Commission as a sympathizer of the ruling NPP government.
According to the Member of Parliament, his party{NDC} has in store enough evidence to prove that Jean Adukwei Mensa, the newly nominated EC Chair has a personal relationship with President Akufo-Addo and can undermine elections in the country especially the 2020 general election.
He argued that there is a personal relationship between the President and the head of Institute of Economic Affairs {IEA} and therefore she is unfit for the new role at the Ghana elections governing body.
“We have evidence to suggest that she visits the president often. Why would she visit the President, are they acquaintances…so we are saying that if she occupies this position she would not be neutral and she would not be apolitical,” Mr Dafeamekpor said
Jean Adukwei Mensa was nominated by President Akufo-Addo to be the next Electoral Commission Chairperson after Charlotte Osei was sacked but since her nomination had faced a lot of criticisms from the opposition NDC party.
