Asamoah Gyan has descended heavily on the performance of players of the Black Meteors team after exiting the TotalEnergies U23 African Cup of Nations following a 1-1 draw against Guinea in the final group game.
Ghana secured four points, same as Guinea but failed to progress due to the latter’s superior goal advantage.
The Black Meteors won 3-2 in their opening game and lost heavily[5-1 to Morocco] in the second group game which impeded chances to progress to the next stage of the competition.
Social media went ablaze after the game and former Black Stars skipper, Asamoah Gyan has labeled some players of the team as “think they are bigger”.
“What I saw in this Black meteors team is some players think they are bigger than the whole team. Small hype and fame ? SHM. Modern football is not about only what you do with the ball. It’s about what you do without the ball. I see players thinking the can play alone. It’s about time we wake up and defend when we lose the ball. SMH” – He tweeted.

Ghana will have to wait after 20 years to think of any chances of progressing to the next stage of the Olympics games. The team has failed to make an appearance at the quadrennial tournament since Athens 2004.
