Black Meteors Head Coach, Ibrahim Tanko has expressed his disappointment following Ghana’s early exit from the TotalEnergies African Cup of Nations and losing out on another chance to make it to the France 2024 Olympics.
Ghana was held to a 1-1 draw by Guinea in the final round of matches in the Group stage games which meant Guinea qualified ahead of Ghana with a superior goal advantage.
Tanko’s men secured a 3-2 victory in the opening game against Congo but lost massively in a 5-1 win against Morocco before sharing the spoils in a 1-1 draw against Guinea.
Tanko who has oversaw two failures at the Under 23 TotalEnergies African Cup of Nations has expressed his disappointment and said in all things give thanks to God – “I think we disappointed Ghanaians and ourselves but we give thanks to God in every situation and like I said we will analyze and know what didn’t go well.”- Coach Ibrahim Tanko.

Ghana has now gone 20 years without an appearance at the quadrennial tournament having last appeared at Athens 2004.
Ibrahim Tanko who’s the head coach of BetPawa Premier League side, Accra Lions has supervised failures at Egypt 2019 and Morocco 2023.
