The team, after 42 years are seeking another shot at the title at Ivory Coast in January, with a win or draw in the final round of qualifiers capable of securing a place in the next finals.
Tony Aubynn, the Executive Council member and Board Chair of Medeama Sporting Club maintains the team is currently not ripe enough for the trophy challenge.
“We have talented players in Europe and in our local league but I wonder if we have a team. What we need to do as a country is to lower our expectations as Ghanaians and then build from the base.
If we still believe we are good enough to beat Brazil or win Afcon at this level of our team, then we will be deceiving ourselves,If we win it’s fine but we need to build just as Senegal, Morocco and the rest have done in recent years now”he said this in an interview with Akoma fm.
He says it will be unfair to aim for the ultimate at the upcoming AFCON.
He added that the focus should be about developing a long term project for the Black Stars
