The new Convocation Board at Takoradi Technical University (TTU) was officially inaugurated on Wednesday, August 10, 2023, at 1:25 pm.
Dr. Adelaide Spio-Kwofie, the Chairperson, and other board members, including Judith McClain-Afful, Dr. Kofi Kwarteng, Joseph Mensah Oti-Asirifi, Bernard Mayne, Hafix Adam, Daniel Kumi Owusu, Richard Anfo Apori, Olivia Agyeman, and Oppan Kojo Ennin, were formally introduced during the second convocation meeting of the 2022/2023 Academic Year.
The induction was conducted by Prof. Victor Kwaku Bondzie-Micah, the Pro-Vice Chancellor.
In her acceptance speech, Dr. Adelaide Spio-Kwofie recognized the achievements of the previous leadership, and expressed her deep gratitude to the university community for entrusting them to serve on the Convocation Board.
“The new board is determined to build on achievements and aim for greater success with the support of all of you”, she promised.
Dr. Adelaide Spio-Kwofie called for unity and highlighted the importance of collaboration in line with TTU’s vision.
She acknowledged potential challenges arising from differing perspectives and emphasized the Board’s commitment to address these openly and find mutually beneficial solutions. “Solidarity plays a pivotal role in achieving shared goals, as outlined in both the Technical Universities Act of 2016 and the Takoradi Technical University Statutes of 2020; hence we must unite to build a better university we all aspire for,” she concluded.

Prof. Victor Kwaku Bondzie-Micah, speaking on behalf of the Vice Chancellor, encouraged the Convocation Board to enhance the university’s presence across various platforms.
He emphasized the upcoming Association of Technical Universities and Polytechnics in Africa (ATUPA) Conference, inviting Convocation members to participate.
He announced that TTU would sponsor key delegates, including women, for this important event.
Prof. Bondzie-Micah outlined the various preparations for the TTU’s 70th Anniversary Celebrations in 2024, and called on the Convocation to come up with innovative ideas and help raise funds to support the anniversary programmes. “The University would need your collective effort for a successful celebration, and I want to encourage all staff with sponsorship connections to collaborate with the anniversary committee to help raise funds to support this big event,” he entreated the assembly.
