On Tuesday, some terrorists invaded a mosque in Sabon Layi, Birnin-Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State, killing the imam.
Three devotees—Kabir, Bilya Mairabo, and Ashiru Mairabo – were also injured to varying degrees in the attack. The devotees are receiving medical treatment at Jibrin Maigwari General Hospital, Birnin-Gwari.
A community leader, Zubair AbduRrauf, said the incident happened during early morning prayers, around 5 a.m. “Yes, an imam of a mosque and two other worshipers were killed. It happened around 5 a.m. on Tuesday.
Two other followers are at Jibrin Maigwari General Hospital, Birnin-Gwari,” he said, according to Punch. “The attack occurred at Allah Babba Station of Sabon Layi, a farming community west of Birnin-Gwari.
These are in the vicinity of Kamuku National Park and Kuyebana Forest in Zamfara and Niger states. “We are in a precarious situation in Birnin-Gwari. Even on the Kaduna – Birnin-Gwari highway, everyone is escorted by security personnel or guards.
Two days ago, bandits killed two people returning from Kaduna. “Bandits’ attacks happen every day. The security officers are really trying their best to limit the attacks, but we need a change of strategy from them (security officers).”
