On Thursday, October 26, 2023, the Dan Kweku Yeboah Media Foundation paid a surprise visit to the former Sekondi Eleven Wise, Hearts of Oak, and Black Stars winger, Nketsiah Yawson, at the Essikado Hospital, Sekondi.
Mr. Nketsiah was one of the most prolific scorers Ghana has ever had when he was at his peak. From his own account, he also boasts of being an all-time Sekondi-Takoradi best player.
People accused him some time ago that he cursed the Blackstars and that he is behind Ghana’s trophy drought. He was said to have cursed Ghana when they failed to keep their promise after winning the AFCON.
Yawson was a member of Ghana’s squad that won the Africa Cup of Nations three times in 1978, which made Ghana the first country to do it. He was also named Ghana Player of the Year in 1979.
The winger was on admission due to illness. The former national star shed tears after Dan Kweku Yeboah unexpectedly donated GH3,000 to the former winger at the hospital’s male ward.
Nketsiah Yawson and his family expressed their profound gratitude to the ace journalist for his kind gesture after receiving the money.
