Thomas Partey, the Arsenal midfielder, told the team he wanted to leave in January due to interest from Serie A powerhouse Juventus per reports.
The Ghana international had been tipped for a summer transfer amid links to Saudi Pro League side Al Ahli after Arsenal spent some £105 million on Declan Rice.
Despite eventually staying in North London, Partey has had difficulty getting regular playing time ever since suffering several injuries at the start of the season.
And according to the Italian publication Tutto Mercato, the 30-year-old has informed the Gunners of his desire to leave the club during the January transfer window.
The publication stated that, considering their need for a defensive midfielder, Juventus are the front-runners to sign Partey.
However, the player will allegedly hold out for more options before making a decision, hoping for interest from the Premier League or La Liga.
This summer, the talk around transfers was centered around Partey’s future in north London, forcing Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta to state that the player is “extremely important” to the group.
