Thomas Partey has undergone a ‘specialist procedure’ to treat a thigh injury and may not be back in action until 2024.
The Ghana international picked up the problem in a training session ahead of Gunner’s trip to Sevilla in October and has been sidelined since.
The 30-year-old has had a difficult season so far. After starting the first three games of the season at right back, he had a groin injury that prevented him from playing in the following four Premier League games.
After making a comeback in Arsenal’s 1-0 victory over Manchester City, he left to play in Ghana’s two international matches held in the US. He played 110 minutes total throughout the two games before going back to Arsenal.
Arsenal and possibly Ghana, who will want Partey for their AFCON campaign that begins in mid-January, are both hurt by his absence.
Edu and Arteta will be thinking about adding more players in January, as the Gunners currently lack depth in the midfield.
