Defending Champions of the Ghana Premier League Medeama SC shared the spoils with Young Africans in a 1-1 scoreline in the CAF Champions League at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
Medeama were very determined to boost their chances of going past the group stage after a 3-0 loss and 2-1 win against Al Ahly and CR Belouizdad respectively.
Jonathan Sowah made his presence felt by after returning from suspension by putting Medeama ahead from the penalty spot on the 27th minute.
Nine minutes after Medeama’s first goal, Young Africans equalized through a strike from Zouozuza bringing the score to 1-1at halftime after both sides failed to score again.
In the second, half both sides were keen on getting another goal that could turn the game in their favour and equally both teams created chances but could not find the back of the net. Young Africans had a slight advantage in terms of possession playing 51 percent with Medeama having 49.
The 1-1 scoreline makes the group open as Medeama are now third with 4 points just as CR Belouizdad and Al Ahly leading with 5 points.Young African are now at the bottom of the group with 2 points.
Medeama’s next Champions League game will be a return leg fixture against young African on December 20.
