Shalimar Abbiusi, the spokesperson for The New Force, a social media movement sparked by the “a man in a mask” has been granted bail by the Kaneshie District Court.
On Monday, December 11, 2023, during court proceedings, Shalimar Abbiusi, a 30-year-old Belgian national who has been detained by the police for allegedly breaking Ghana’s immigration regulations, was granted bail.
The 30-year-old Belgian pleaded not guilty to one count of using a false declaration to obtain a student visa in violation of section 52 (1) (i) of the Immigration Act 2000 (Act 573), during the proceedings.
According to investigations, Abbiusi first arrived in Ghana on September 4, 2017, via the Kotoka International Airport. She visited the country frequently until 2018, at this point she declared herself a resident of Ghana Christian University College, where she was enrolled as a student.
After not pleading guilty to the accusations against her, Shalimar Abbiusi is mandated to report to the Ghana Immigration Service three times every week.
