The governing body of world football, FIFA, has imposed a $5800 fine on Ghana due to an invasion by fans in their hard-fought 1-0 home win over Madagascar.
Iñaki Williams scored a last-minute winner, which also happened to be his first for the Stars. According to FIFA, there was an intruder who invaded the pitch of play after the FIFA World Cup qualifiers between Ghana and Madagascar at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Friday, November 17, 2023.
A considerable number of individuals who were not authorized or certified were present within the inner boundary, and a few of them joined the players in celebrating Inaki Williams’ game-winning goal in the final moments of play.
FIFA also pushed for upgrades to the internet and other amenities from the stadium management. A close inspection of the photo reveals that even the on-duty policeman left his post to join in the celebration.
