In an attempt to surpass the Guinness World Record (GWR), 27-year-old Dauda Abdulfatai of Kogi State’s Adavi Local Government Area will start a 200-hour ironing marathon and add his name to the hall of fame.
In the Nyama-Nyama section of Ganaja Village, in the Lokoja neighborhood, Dauda began his ironing marathon bid on Wednesday, January 10.
The goal of Dauda is to surpass the current record of 100 hours, which was set by Gareth Sander of the United Kingdom on October 26 and 30, 2015.
Guinness World Records recently sent Dauda an email replying to his bid, letting him know that his application (reference number 230618101834Imi) had been approved.
“Application Reference: 230618101834|mi, Hello, Dauda Abdulfatai. In response to Dauda, the GWR stated, “We are happy to notify you that your application has been accepted under the following title: Longest Marathon Ironing.”
Additionally, it was found that the GWR’s response included a link that would allow him to view details about the current record and the strict guidelines he must adhere to throughout his attempt.
The young man’s attempt is an endurance test that tests both mental and physical fortitude. To succeed, he must maintain unwavering focus and be able to endure discomfort and exhaustion for eight days.
A report claims that in 2015, 28-year-old Gareth Sanders broke the world record by ironing 2,000 items nonstop for almost 100 hours.
More than two weeks were required for Gareth to fully recover in terms of strength from the attempt.
