Black Stars forward Jordan Ayew says in an effort to return to winning ways at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations in Cote D’Ivoire, the team will give their best against the Egyptian Pharaohs.
Ghana’s opening match against Cape Verde ended in a loss, which sparked a fierce backlash among Black Stars supporters who vented their dissatisfaction.
Ayew claims that everyone in the camp is aware of how important the game against Egypt is, and that they will need to exert force and aggression on the field of play.
“Tomorrow is a big day, and we know what it means to Ghanaians and we the players personally. We want to perform in this tournament, and we didn’t just come to visit Abidjan; we came to perform” Jordan Ayew remarked.
“I don’t agree that we lack commitment. First of all, it is bread and butter for everyone who plays football, and sometimes things go well or badly. We need to do more, and we know that,” he added in response to questions on the commitment of the Black Stars.
The Black Stars will face Egypt at the Stade Félix-Houphouët-Boigny on Thursday, January 18,
2024.
