Kofi Donkor, a 27-year-old taxi driver in the Central region, is under arrest after he ran over a police officer who was on duty at Agona Swedru.
Constable Ernest Opare was the officer in charge of directing traffic on the busy dual carriageway when the unfortunate incident occurred at the Agona Swedru Chief Palace junction.
According to a police source who spoke with Adom News, the driver of the car with license plate GW 6086-22 was using the shoulder of the road.
It is said that the police officer was run over by the irate driver, who was speeding. The hands and back of Constable Ernest Opare were severely injured.
After being taken in for immediate care, he is now being treated at the Agona Swedru Municipal Hospital. The taxi driver is being held by the police and cooperating with their investigations in the interim.
