Sad news has poped-up at Nasarawa University as a 100-level microbiologist, Miss Sarah Maikefi, took her own life following the breakup of her boyfriend. She had just finished her first semester quiz when the incident occurred.
Sarah, the last of a family of four children, appeared healthy and strong until her death, but she concealed her inner struggles from those closest to her.
According to reports, the tragic incident occurred at an off-campus lodge near the Family and Friends Hotel, opposite the university campus.
Miss Patience Maikefi, Sarah’s cousin and fellow student, claimed that the deceased had called her over the phone following her semester exams, that she was simply fed up with everything and could take no more as the deceased ended the call abruptly, and that she tried several times to get in touch with her but to no avail.
However, the cousin later received a call to quickly rush to a nearby clinic. Furthermore, a student who went by Danjuma had this to say about the deceased:
We met here early this year when she came for her four-year degree programme and we shared a good relationship as students. She was gentle, calm and cool.”
Sarah’s untimely death has left the university community in shock and grief.
