Well-known gospel singer Christiana Twene, better known by her stage name Obaapa Christy, offers prayers for gospel musicians instead of berating them mercilessly for their errors.
She claims that gospel musicians, who employ music to preach the word of God, are human just like everyone else and are not perfect.
“Saying all kinds of things to make them feel bad is not necessary. It can be disheartening to hear disparaging remarks about gospel musicians when their issues come to light.
“As gospel musicians, we are only human and will inevitably make mistakes as well. Some media people and Ghanaians dwell on the negatives instead of focusing on the positives. What is the point in rejoicing over someone’s downfall?” she questioned.
Seizing the moment, the “Hyebre Sesafo” hitmaker advised her coworkers to value themselves to receive competitive pay, comparable to that of their nonreligious colleagues who allegedly bargain for lower prices from event organizers.
“I always say that when you place value on yourself, no event organizer will pay you whatever they want but rather give you what is due you when you are hired to perform. I have done this for over 20 years for anyone to just pay me any amount. I get paid what I am entitled to, and that is because I am valuable,” the woman declared.
