Ghanaian local Coach Michael Osei, has formally entered the race for the vacant Black Stars coaching job upon submitting his application.
The Ghana Football Association decided to sever ties with former coach Chris Hughton, because of the national team’s lackluster performance in Ivory Coast during the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, where they were unable to advance from Group B.
Osei, who manages Bibiani Goldstars is eager to take over as manager of Ghana’s top team.He stressed the necessity for a strategic approach to handle the team’s current situation.
“Let’s just put aside winning the AFCON for now.Instead, let’s consider transition and building a powerful team. When given the opportunity to head the team, I plan to build my team around the young people on the team, as most countries do.Also, offer opportunities for local players and strive to keep them in the country so that we can develop more for our senior national team. For the time being, my focus is on developing strong basics rather than winning trophies.I am quite qualified and will be delighted if given the opportunity to lead the team”-Coach Michael Osei explained in an interview with Akoma fm.
Osei, who has coached as the head coach of New Edubiase United FC, Star Madrid FC, Liberty Professionals FC, and Asante Kotoko SC in addition to his tenure as assistant manager of the Black Meteors, stated that he would be ready and excited to take the helm of the Black Stars.
